A lover of science fiction, Leo subtly uses ambiguity again: This guitar looks futuristic, but it also reminds us of “A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...” Its geometry is robotic, but the subtle curves are almost feminine. The body of the “Type R2” emerges from the interaction of different volumes and levels, all hand-carved. The back of the neck is the result of long triangular shapes. The oxidation of the pickguard is a masterful example of a process called relicing (pronounced “relicking”), resembling the marks of liquid dripping from a fuel tank’s cap for decades.
